The City of Atlanta offers plenty of attractions for tourists, but if you're willing to do a little traveling, you'll be amazed by the amount of entertainment options that are available just a short drive from the city.

When traveling to the city, you'll find plenty of comfortable accommodations to make your trip even more enjoyable. If you are flying into the city, you really don't have to travel very far from the airport to find lodging. You can also find plenty of comfortable options in the city, midtown and Buckhead.

The Hilton Atlanta Airport features plush accommodations and a contemporary flair. The amenities provide both elegance and comfort, and the service is Southern hospitality at its finest. What's even better is that the hotel is just minutes from shopping, entertainment and fine dining. The Westin Atlanta Airport is another luxury hotel with over 22,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, spacious guestrooms and a variety of dining options on site.

Many travelers prefer to stay in Buckhead. With more shopping and dining options that any location in the Southeast, it's easy to see why. The Swissotel Atlanta Buckhead is is a stylish, high-rise hotel situated in the Buckhead area and is perfect for a weekend getaway. The beautifully appointed guestrooms are spacious and well furnished. Just down the street you'll find an affordable option in the Wingate Inn Buckhead . The hotel even offers a complimentary limousine ride to the elegant Phipps & Lenox Malls, that are within a 2-mile radius of Buckhead's finest dining and nightlife

If you don't want to deal with the congestion of downtown, Midtown Atlanta has several lodging options including the Hampton Inn Atlanta Midtown or the Villager Lodge Atlanta Midtown. Staying downtown may make your trip out of town to area attractions a bit more inconvenient, but it will be worth the effort. The downtown area has multiple quality hotels to choose from.

For those on a budget, the Days Inn Downtown will save you money without have to sacrifice amenities. This charming property offers guests clean, comfortable accommodations, and excellent service in a location that is convenient to all of downtown Atlanta 's most popular tourist attractions and businesses. The Super 8 Atlanta Downtown is also easy on the wallet. If you're looking to splurge try the Omni Hotel At CNN Center . The luxury hotel is situated opposite the Centennial Olympic Park and connected to the Philips Arena and the Georgia World Congress Center.

If you're a history buff, a trip to the Etowah Indiana Community will be well worth the drive. Just 45-minute from downtown in Cartersville, the site features ceremonial mounds that date back more than 1,000 years. The mounds were used as burial places for priests platforms and temples. The largest of the grassy mounds rises 63-feet above the ground.

The history lesson continues with a trip down U.S. Highway 27 to Fort Oglethorpe . The Fort features more than 600 monuments and markers that depict battle lines and commemorate casualties at this Civil War historical site in the northwest corner of Georgia , just 90 miles from downtown Atlanta . Inside of the visitor center there are over 300 weapons on display that date back to the Revolutionary War and continue through World War II.
